Wanda Dean

Wanda Hankins Dean leads the recruitment, admission, enrollment, and academic scheduling of our students, while aligning resources to enhance the quality and diversity of the student body.

Dean began her career at Virginia Tech as a staff member of the University Registrar. At the age of 29, she became one of the youngest registrars in the country for a Research 1 university. Dean served the university as assistant vice president for enrollment management prior to becoming vice provost.

Enrollment and Degree Management collaborates with many areas across the university including academic colleges and departments, the Graduate School, the Office of Institutional Research and Effectiveness, University Bursar, Student Success Center, Facilities, Athletics, International Programs, and Global Education. The expansive involvement of Enrollment Management leaders and staff in university committees and governance speak to our unit’s dedication to university wide input in our services. In each academic year, every reporting area is tasked with the goal of continuous improvement to align with the university’s goals of student success in the path to graduation and to increase opportunities for efficiencies and collaboration with our university partners.
